At VEX Worlds, only individual teams that have submitted at least two different VEX Online Challenges, have won an Excellence Award at an official event during the current competition year, have signed up for an Excellence Award interview, and have submitted their Engineering Notebook will be considered for the Excellence Award. The Online Challenges consist of a variety of different things that you can choose to best fit your team's strengths. Winning an Excellence Award at an event during the season is the highest award you can get at any competition. The Excellence Award is given to the all-around best team. To sign up for an Excellence interview, you have to submit a 500 word essay about what your school or organization does to show excellence. The last criteria is you have to submit an Engineering Notebook, which documents the whole process of your robotics season that someone outside of your team could read the notebook and copy your robot.
At the World Championship an individual team earns the Excellence Award, but it is given to a whole school or organization.
