Cornerstone Robotics VRC Teams Excel at the Indiana State Championship at Lucas Oil Stadium

Thousands of people filled Lucas Oil Stadium on March 25th for the VEX Robotics Indiana State Championship.  Sixty-four of the best high school teams in the state competed for the title of State Champion, while 24 middle teams competed for the esteemed title. Cornerstone Robotics did not disappoint. 323N Bionics and 323V GEARS made it to High School finals to battle it out in the best of three matches, resulting in  323V being crowned the state champion, while 323N was awarded State Finalist. 323V also received the Excellence Award, the highest award given in VEX Robotics. 323S Short Circuit was awarded the Innovate Award for their skillfully crafted engineering notebook and professional interview.

323E Sprockets had a spectacular day in the Middle School division, winning the three top Middle School VRC awards: State Champion, Excellence Award, and Robot Skills Champion.

These four Cornerstone teams will compete in April at the VEX Worlds Championship in Dallas, Texas.

323V Wins a Rare Signature Event Triple Crown

Las Vegas isn't exactly close to home, but GEARS 323V didn't want to miss the opportunity to compete with 124 teams from seventeen states and four countries. GEARS 323V fought hard for the three days of competition. After persevering through ups and downs, the Cornerstone team managed to snag all three top awards. Tournament champion is awarded to the alliance of two teams that win in match play. Robot Skills Champion is awarded to the team who scores the most points on their own in combined drivers and programming skills. The Excellence Award is the top award, and is awarded by a team of  judges to a team based on their competition rankings, engineering notebook, and interview. In addition to enjoying the competition, GEARS loved interacting with robotics kids so many different geographical areas.

Cornerstone's GEARS 323V tried to defend their 2021 Tournament Champion title in November 2022 at the Speedway Signature event that was held at Dallara IndyCar Factory. With 78 teams in attendance, they made it to the finals with their alliance partner Covenant Christian from Indianapolis, but were defeated in a very close match by the first and fifth ranked teams in the World. Although they were not crowned tournament champions, they were awarded the highest award, the High School Excellence Award, which earns them a spot to the VEX World Championship which will be held in April of 2023.

Cornerstone Robotics is a Christian home school robotics program entering its eighth year of competition. We are now a well respected veteran program and going strong. We have grown from a single team with ten students to eleven teams with more than forty students throughout the Greenwood/Indianapolis area. We are excited about the addition this year of elementary aged VEX IQ teams. We are  working on achieving new levels of excellence by building robotics teams in the area. This program can be life changing for us by exposing us to science and technology in a fun and exciting way. We have fun together as we learn engineering principles, problem solving skills, teamwork, and how to compete in a God-honoring manner. It also helps us to learn leadership, team work, and public speaking skills. Cornerstone is a 501c3, so all donations are tax-deductible.

Welcome To Cornerstone Robotics! We are a 501c3. All donations are tax-deductible.
